Carsington Water

April 19th & 20th 2008

Carsington Water is located in the heart of The Peak District in Ashbourne Derbyshire. From the A515 you take the B5035 directly to the reservoir. For further directions see www.carsingtonwater.com

Famously this is the home club of our chairman elect ‘Farmer Jones’ and his somewhat more talented son ‘Farmboy’.

Carsington Water opened in 1992 and is the ninth largest reservoir in England. As well as windsurfing it offers bird watching, canoeing, fishing, cycling, horse riding, sailing and skiing. The event will be hosted by the Watersports centre which is located to the left hand side of the car park as you enter. The centre has toilets, changing and shower facilities as well as a small shop. Also available on site are a number of shops and a good café restaurant with views over the lake.

Overnight parking will be available both on Friday and Saturday some 200 metres from the race site. Note you cannot park overnight at the reservoir itself. The field has toilet disposal and water but no other facilities. Just turn up and park. The cost is £5.00 per night and we will come round and collect the money from you.

Everyone is welcome especially our junior sailors who will have their own course.
